PRAYERS

Thank you for taking a moment to pray for Wretch Like Me and the team working to bring this film to life.

From the beginning, this project has been more than just a movie. It is an opportunity to tell a story about darkness, guilt, forgiveness, and redemption in a way that can reach people who might never expect to encounter those themes in a film like this.

The film is being produced through Red Braille, the white-label production studio of Christ Greenfield that serves the church and its ministry partners through storytelling and media. Wretch Like Me is also fully owned by Christ Greenfield. If the film is successful, any profits will flow back to the church to support its ministries and future outreach. Our hope is that God might use this project not only to tell a meaningful story, but also to help strengthen the mission of the church moving forward.

Stories have always been powerful. They help us see ourselves more clearly. They can open hearts in ways that arguments or explanations sometimes cannot. Our hope is that this film will shine a light into places where people are wrestling with regret, shame, and broken relationships, and remind them that grace is real and redemption is possible.

Because of that, we know this project needs prayer.

As the film moves closer to production, there are many moving pieces. Creative decisions must be made. Financing must come together. Schedules must be coordinated. A growing team of people is stepping in to help bring this story to the screen. More than anything, we want to move forward with wisdom, humility, and trust in God’s leading.

If you are willing, we would deeply appreciate your prayers for this project.

Please pray for:

  • Wisdom and discernment for the leadership and creative team as decisions are made.

  • Unity and encouragement for the cast and crew involved in the project.

  • Provision as the remaining pieces of financing come together.

  • Protection over the people, families, and relationships connected to the film.

  • Open hearts for the audiences who may one day encounter this story.

We truly believe that God can use storytelling in powerful ways. Thank you for standing with us in prayer as this project moves forward.

Your prayers mean more than you know.

FILM OVERVIEW

Wretch Like Me represents a unique opportunity to tell a powerful story through the language of genre filmmaking. Rather than following the familiar path of traditional faith-based films, this project explores deeper themes of guilt, redemption, and grace within the framework of a supernatural thriller.

The goal is not simply to make a horror film, but to create a story that resonates with audiences who might never seek out a message-driven film on their own. By engaging viewers through compelling characters, emotional stakes, and a gripping narrative, the film invites people to wrestle with questions of darkness, forgiveness, and the possibility of redemption.

At its heart, Wretch Like Me is about bringing light into unexpected places and reaching people through storytelling in a way that feels authentic, honest, and deeply human.

Here is what Legendary Actor Doug Jones (who plays the lead role in Wretch Like Me) has to say about the film:

"Wretch Like Me isn’t the kind of film you’d see in a church, aimed at those who already know Christ. It’s a horror film crafted to reach those who don’t. With my experience acting in dark, mainstream movies, I believe this story will captivate horror fans who seek out intense, unsettling narratives while offering them the profound message of God’s love, forgiveness, redemption, and healing - delivered in a way that’s never been done in this genre. I’m thrilled at the opportunity to portray Hank, a man wrestling with his own brokenness as he desperately tries to free himself and his daughter from a generational curse - only to discover that true freedom lies in the redemptive power of Jesus." - - Doug Jones

The hope for Wretch Like Me goes beyond simply making a film. The goal is to tell a story that connects with people who might never expect to encounter themes of redemption, forgiveness, and faith within a genre like this. By meeting audiences where they are (through compelling characters, tension, and mystery) the film creates space for deeper questions about guilt, grace, and the possibility of healing even in the darkest moments.

With a thoughtful production plan, an experienced creative team, and growing momentum behind the project, Wretch Like Me is steadily moving toward production. It’s exciting to see how the pieces are coming together and how God continues to open doors along the way.

For those who find the vision compelling, there are many ways people are helping bring the film to life. More than anything, we’re grateful for the growing community of supporters who believe in the story and the impact it could have.

Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just about making a movie. It’s about telling a story that shines light into dark places.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

324500694_706199247611360_5018408070173154348_n.jpg

My dad, Pastor Dale Freeman, passed away in January 2024. While going through his things, I found this letter he wrote to me exactly 30 years ago, when I was just 20 years old.

To Todd:

I seldom meet a person with what I perceive to be almost limitless possibilities. You, however, are one of them. I love you more than could ever express, and I marvel at your talent and burgeoning abilities in so many areas. I know that God has a great plan for you, and pray that you’ll fulfill your purpose on this old earth. The only person that can bring defeat and rob you of your dreams is you. Don’t let it happen!

I know that growing up as the youngest child is a mixed blessing. You certainly got a break or two along the way, and yet it’s hard to travel a path that has already been laid by those who have gone before you.

I guarantee you one thing. From the first moment I saw you, I’ve loved you and you can be sure that I always will.

If talent were diamonds, and quick wit solid gold, My youngest son would be a king, a site of wealth untold. If he will use it wisely, and run a faithful race, He will bring honor to his family, and leave the world a better place.

Love,

Dad

The words "I know that God has a great plan for you, and pray you'll fulfill your purpose on this old earth" are very poignant to me as we progress towards production on Wretch Like Me. I believe that this film is what God has been building to since a very young age and I’m so blessed to have the opportunity to utilize the skills He’s developed in me to attempt leaving "the world a better place".

VOICES BEHIND THE VISION

This project has been shaped by more than just one story. It has been carried forward by a community of believers who have seen its heart from the beginning and those who have come alongside it more recently.

Read directly from Christian investors, family & friends, and long-time collaborators who have walked this journey with us. They share why they believe in the mission of Wretch Like Me, what they’ve seen God do through the process, and why they feel called to be part of it.

This isn’t just a "faith-based" project; it’s a sophisticated, professional piece of storytelling that uses the darkness to make the light of hope shine even brighter. It is a privilege to support a film that has the courage to be both terrifyingly honest and spiritually transformative.

DEVELOPMENT

Some of the cast and crew gathered in Portland to discuss the film, read the script aloud, and capture character photos. What follows is a glimpse of what was documented during this final development trip in February of 2026.

* Note: The following video includes brief clips from several Hollywood productions featuring Doug Jones. Some of these moments come from the horror and fantasy genre and may contain imagery that some viewers could find unsettling.

These clips are included to show the caliber of productions Doug has been part of and the level of artistry he brings to his work. Over the years, Doug has become one of the most respected actors in the genre film world, and his involvement in Wretch Like Me helps demonstrate the professional quality and reach the film is aiming for.

What makes this partnership even more meaningful is that Doug is also a devout LCMS Lutheran who faithfully attends church in California. His excitement about this story and its deeper themes has been evident from the very beginning.

The video offers a glimpse of both Doug’s remarkable body of work and the heart he brings to this project as we seek to tell a story that shines light into dark places.
